Shameless Plug:  Naaman Jones, my oldest son, opened Tradewinds Canvas Works in April, 2012.  Here’s a short bio: http://www.tradewindsmarinecanvas.com/about-us.html

He’s located in the Boat Haven boatyard, so most of his business involves boats, but he works on almost anything that can be fabricated from a heavy textile. I’ve lost count of the odd projects he’s done. Somewhere along the line he picked up the canvas mojo, and business has been good.

I can tell you a few things about Naaman. He will not lie to you to get your business. If he gives you a quote, that is what you’ll pay unless you work out a new deal together. Second, his customers are really important to him. He’s proud that all of them so far have been pleased with his work. He only has one customer-related horror story, about which I’ll just say that I support his decision not to work with flakes and assholes. Third, he works hard. Like seven days a week most of the time. He’s a new dad and his schedule is pretty hectic.  Still, even though it sometimes means burning the midnight oil, or bringing Rowan to the shop, he hasn’t missed a deadline yet.
